Hello, I am Dr. Renee Hurley, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. I am happy to join Ramous Psychology and Associates and offer a wide range of psychotherapy services for young adults through older and aging adults.
My therapeutic style is based on Person-Centered Humanistic principles emphasizing authenticity, empathy and support in a judgement free atmosphere. My approach uses evidence based treatment approaches including Strength-based Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I believe in personalized collaboration empowering clients to discover and utilize their own strengths to accomplish day to day goals, overcome obstacles and have a fulfilling life.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from California University of Pennsylvania in California, PA and my Master of Education degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA. I earned my Doctorate of Education degree in Leadership and Administration from Point Park University, Pittsburgh, PA. My training and experience throughout the years have been with community agencies, outpatient and group counseling settings, and most recently within a hospital setting. I have presented at national conferences on patient experience and organizational culture. In addition, I have been an Adjunct Psychology Professor at California University of Pennsylvania.
My professional experience includes the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) Leadership Councils, including Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN), Patient and Family Engagement (PFE) Leadership Council, and Leader of the Patient and Family Advisory Council. I have been a member of the Society for Healthcare Consumer Advocacy (SHCA) group and a current member of the California University of Pennsylvania Health Resources and Services Administration Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training (HRSA BHWET) Advisory Board.
I have a wide range of experience with compassion fatigue and burnout (i.e. healthcare and behavioral healthcare workers), coping and adjusting to health-related diagnoses and issues, anxiety related conditions, grief and loss, conflict resolution and managing important relationships, life transitions (i.e. career changes, parenting, retirement, caring for aging parents) and self-care/wellness.
In addition to the psychotherapy services I provide, I also conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations.
