My name is Dr. Erin Carpenter-McGeown, and I am a post-doctoral intern providing therapeutic and assessment services at Ramous Psychology and Associates under the supervision of Dr.Courtney Ramous and Dr. Hannah Thibodeau. I completed my Psy.D. in School Psychology at Duquesne University in August 2025, guided by a deep commitment to supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families as they navigate social, emotional, developmental, and academic challenges. I draw on my experiences as an educator in both public and private settings, a mental health advocate, and a parent to develop a holistic understanding of my clients and to build therapeutic relationships rooted in empathy, warmth, and genuine concern.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education and Child Psychology from Purdue University and a Master of Science in Education from Duquesne University, where I also obtained certification as a Reading Specialist. Over the course of 12 years, I worked in early childhood programs and K-12 schools, supporting students in both public and private settings. My work focused on at-risk populations through a Title I position, as well as general and special education students in integrated classrooms. During this time, I specialized in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), 504 Service Agreements, and Positive Behavioral Interventions. I later returned to Duquesne University to earn a second Master of Science in Child Psychology and to advance my doctoral studies in School Psychology.
Currently, I conduct neuropsychological and psychological evaluations for children and adults, in addition to providing individual and family psychotherapy. I work with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and other psychiatric, behavioral, and mood disorders. I am trained in administering the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and the Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing the Autism Spectrum (MIGDAS-2), and I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with trauma-informed care, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) as well as Inference-Based CBT for the treatment of OCD. I am dedicated to providing compassionate, person-centered care that fosters resilience, growth, and positive change for children, adolescents, and adults from diverse backgrounds.
