Hello! I am Megan McPherson and am a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our practice and the wide variety of services that we provide. I value the importance of the therapeutic relationship and provide counseling services in a safe, empathic, and nonjudgmental setting. I look forward to helping you better understand and overcome the potential barriers that may be keeping you from a more balanced and healthier lifestyle. My approach to counseling is based in Cognitive Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy. I maintain a holistic perspective of each person to help promote wellness of the mind, body, and spirit.
I earned a BS from Chatham University in Psychology. I continued at Chatham to complete my MS in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Health Psychology. I have multiple years of experience as a clinician, supervisor, and manager in a variety of settings including residential treatment for co-occurring disorders, outpatient treatment including group-based therapy and assessments with both adolescents and adults. I welcome clients of diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. I have treated a wide range of psychological problems/disorders such as substance use and abuse, coping with medical conditions and chronic pain, PTSD/trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, and grief and loss. I have a strong interest in helping clients find and realize their own unique strengths to not only find balance in their lives but to also make strides in achieving their individual goals. I make significant effort to bring high levels of warmth, challenge, and understanding into therapy.
